Thrifted: Pyrex

I recently had an amazing Pyrex haul!
I added a few more pieces to my butterfly gold collection.
I can never pass up reasonably priced pink Pyrex.
I also added this Americana chips and dip set (with the original tags) to my collection when we were on vacation!  Now, I just need to have a little get together to use it!

Thrifted: Pyrex

I think I am finally finding my groove again when it comes to thrifting Pyrex. Both of these pieces meet the "don't turn into a hoarder" requirements (must match a pattern I already have... no starting new sets)! I actually already have the bowl, but I find the small bowls so handy that I don't mind having a duplicate.
I wish they would have had the sugar bowl that matched this creamer, but I guess that gives me something to hunt for.  This creamer is not stamped by Pyrex so it is an impostor, but I don't care. I have wanted this creamer for a while, and it matches my impostor salt and pepper shakers.  If you want a peek at my whole Golden Butterfly collection, check out this post! If you're curious about what other Pyrex I have been collecting, look here.

Do you collect Pyrex??  How do you display it?  I am in need of some tips!

Thrifted

It has been a while since I thrifted Pyrex.  I have chosen to be very picky with my purchases since my collection is barely contained within, on top of, and underneath our cupboards (there is at least one piece in every room of our house, but no need to call hoarders... it's tasteful, I promise). Then... sometimes you come across a find and you can't help yourself!  This was one!
The crazy daisy pattern is my second all-time favorite vintage Pyrex/Corningware pattern (the first being golden butterfly, of course!). These two nesting bowls are in amazing condition and were a steal. Now, I just have to hunt down the large one and the set will be complete.

The yellow measuring cups (vintage tupperware... is that a thing?) are the same ones I grew up with and my mom still uses. There is just something about having the same tools you learned with that makes cooking more comforting, right? I also picked up the green scoop measures to leave inside the flour and sugar containers.... again, like my mom does and it's just convenient!

Any finds lately?

Thrifted: The Orange Edition

I didn't realize till I got home that everything I picked up coordinated so well.
This weekend's thrift adventure was much better than the last one.  I think my luck is slowly coming back. The vintage sheets aren't a matching set, but don't they look pretty together?  I am trying to be picky about what sheets I pick up since my collection is starting to overflow its designated shelf (sigh).

I also found these orange Pyrex cups for a friend.  I found her one years ago and haven't come across another one until this weekend. Can you believe I got them all for $1.50?! I bought the salt and pepper shakers for me because the color matched my canisters, but they match the cups so well that I may have to give them to my friend too!  I also found the silk scarf that is in the background.

Thrifted

I found this awesome golden butterfly pattern Pyrex.  I am not sure if that is the proper lid to the piece?  It seems to fit very loosely, but it doesn't matter to me... it is another serving piece to add to my "China" collection :).  In the same trip, I thrifted two vintage pillowcases and more heart fabric!  I have been trying to stay away from vintage linens since my collection is outgrowing it's allotted space, but the color and pattern caught my eye and they were only 50 cents!!! You can't pass that up!  I am not sure what to do with all this heart fabric I have been able to find lately.  When I look at it, I see bows and zipper pouches... any ideas?
Here is a better look at the heart fabric!

Thrifted: Little things!

I know these boots look worn, but when I thrifted them they were brand new... I couldn't wait to wear them! They have become one of my new favorite things!

I love ascots and women's ties.  They can make any outfit instantly more fun.  I know that a lot of people use the pin-on bows... and while I like those too, there is just something special about tying it yourself and hiding it under your collar (to me anyways). I was super excited to find these two hiding in with the belts!
I also found this lovely little piece of Pyrex.  It has been a pretty long time since I have bought any.  I am trying to exercise some self control about adding to my collection.  Right now, it needs to add to an existing set or finish it, or be on my list of non-negotiable patterns. This bowl completes a set for me :)!  I am afraid if I don't control myself, then the house will be overflowing with Pyrex with nowhere to put it.  I don't want to be the Pyrex hoarder!

Do you have any fun collections that are starting to get out of control?

Dresser to Buffet!

I have talked about this dresser before that is a lovely hand-me-down from my mom.  When we moved,  I wasn't sure where it should go since we didn't need it as a dresser anymore.  I believe it has finally found it's home!!

I have really wanted a cool, vintage china cabinet for this wall to display all of my lovely special occasion dishes, and though I still haven't found that, at least I can finally put all of them away!  I really love how it fits in!
If you've been a follower for a while then you know that this collection has been a labor of love. The quick back-story is that I adore this pattern, didn't register for china when we got married, and am working on collecting service for 12!

It all fits perfectly in the dresser with room for growth!

Yep, only three drawers used!!!

Pyrex!

Whoa... I haven't posted my Pyrex finds in a while!  Here we go!
A lovely blue refrigerator dish thanks to my auntie!! It needs a little love, but it was used with care.

This was a b-day gift from my bestie... It's one of my favorite Pyrex patterns! (The first being "Golden Butterfly")

I have never come across this pattern before, have you?  The bottom says Pyrex England.  I haven't investigated yet, but I must!  I love the colors... and thanks to my MIL for always looking for me!

I got this on our last vacation.  This is my first ever Dot Pyrex!!! I could have fainted when I saw it!

Thrifted!

This complete set was marked down to $5.00... There was no way I could pass this up.  The top bowl must have been put through the dishwasher (never put vintage pyrex in the dishwasher!!! It removes the shine), but the rest of the set is perfection!

I am for sure removing the shoulder pads and shortening the sleeves and hem line.  I am not sure about this ruffle... thoughts?

This Weekend

We stumbled upon a few garage sales and found a new Goodwill where we found these lovelies!

This amazing vintage record holder :)

A beautiful piece of teal pyrex (sorry for the glair, is it okay that I was too lazy to move it?)

An amazing vintage sheet and pillowcase.  I think I may have enough vintage sheets to start my quilt!

We also spent a lot of time outside and I found some more flowers in bloom. (well lots... get ready for the photo dump!)

I hope you had wonderful and relaxing weekend!!

Pyrex!

My mother-in-law is so kind.  She always thinks of me when going through kitchen stuff.  She found these beauties while looking through her aunt's dishes.

I'm excited to find a spot to display them with the rest.  Someday I will get around to taking pictures of my collection and the little places it fills around the house :).

In other news... I have a super fun DIY coming really soon!! I hope tonight! :)

Tuesday Treasures!

This weekend I found these two little Pyrex bowls....
It has been awhile since I've thrifted any Pyrex.  I have been very picky about what pieces I want to buy... I am focusing more on completing sets!

I have also started a spring afghan :)
Of course it has yellow in it.. well more of a mustard... but yellow of any color works for me :)

Tuesday Treasures!

I found these little treasures while out thrifting last week.
A cigar box full of vintage buttons and other notions :)

Here is a better look at some of what was inside.  I officially have more buttons than I know what to do with :)

I also found this lovely orange Pyrex coffee cup!

Have you had any great finds?

Tuesday Treasures!

I was so excited about this find!  I can't wait to have my set complete and set a formal table with all golden butterfly pattern!!  They're in perfect condition, the pepper was a little dirty but it washed right off!  Someday soon I will have to take a picture off all the golden butterfly I have found so far!

Last night I was catching up on Grey's and I was able to finish my extra long cowl scarf.  I took the techniques I learned doing this pattern to make this cowl, and made a longer thinner version!
I made it to go with this super sweet leather jacket my dad gave me from the 70's.  I don't have pictures yet but, I will when it comes back from the cleaners!  In the above picture it is wrapped around 3 times... It's so warm and comfy for the lovely Michigan winters!

(Here is what I did... written out the best way I know how... sorry... im still new to this:  Chained 150, joined the ends with a Slip Stitch, Double crocheted 3 rows, Half-double crocheted 1 row, then double crocheted 3 rows, FINISHED! What I used: Red heart Aran Fleck and Aran.  I used two strands at once with 10mm N hook).

My apologies for this posting Tuesday Treasures on Wednesday.... but I am still trying to adjust to it getting dark so early!  I always forget to take my pictures till it is too late!

Tuesday Treasures!

As I said yesterday, I was able to get a few little things while we were in Allen.  I was able to come by enough Pyrex coffee cups to finish my little collection.... Though I think I might have my eye on another pattern that matches the scheme of the kitchen!!

They were a steal and in perfect condition.  While we were there, we saw a complete set of the Golden Butterfly dishes.... but they were sadly in really poor condition.  Oh well, someday I will have them!

I am starting to get really excited for Thanksgiving!!!  Are you?? I have a million ideas in my head for ways to decorate the table and the dining room.  I am thinking I will have a little DIY to share with all of you later this week... so you can have pretty tables too!!

But now I must be going... I have lots to get ready for tomorrow!  My good friend and I are going to be working on things for an upcoming craft show. I am over the moon about this... it has been along time since we've been able to get our schedules lined up so we can make pretty things together!!

Tuesday Treasures!

This weekend I was able to come up with a few thrifty finds.... The First find is thanks to my lovely sister in-law. She spotted it at a garage sale and scooped it up for me :). (my in-laws are great! They feed my Pyrex obsession!!!)

Golden Butterfly Gravy Boat!!
This is my favorite pattern ever done by Corning Ware... and the fact that you can find it in Pyrex makes it even better!  For those of you who don't know... Someday I want to own enough pieces of this for it to be like my fine china.  (I didn't register for fine china when I got married... never really wanted it).

Pendelton Wool Skirt
I have such a soft spot for wool skirts.... I can never pass up a great one when I see it!  Pendelton's are my favorite.... you really don't want to know how many I own.  But in my defense, I do always wear them to work!  My vintage wardrobe is what gets me through work!! :)

Gray Wool Wrap Skirt
Yay! Another amazing wool gray skirt.  This is lighter than the others I own and is way more full!  I just want to twirl around like a little kid in it!! (the sweater is from anthropology, its a new favorite).

Have you thrifted any treasures lately?

Long Lost Tuesday Treasures!

As I mentioned yesterday, this weekend I was able to find some lovely treasures on our mini adventure.

And of course I have the one bowl missing to complete the set!

Can you believe these amazing juice glasses? This is one of my favorite Corning Ware/Pyrex patterns!

Plastic never been used canisters for the kitchen...love!

Oh! and I just remember that I promised to show pictures of the cowl scarf I made... Here they are! I have already started another one in gray... I love it.. so warm!! The tutorial can be found here!

Hope everyone is having a good start to the week :)

Tuesday Treasures!

I really thought I would have nothing to share today and then.... I remembered some past finds I didn't share!

I am in love with this piece it is in perfect condition.... I think I am going to store crafty things in it!

Can you believe these were only $1.00?!?!? (I found these on a thrifting adventure to Ann Arbor).

On that lovely adventure I also scored lots and lots of thread for close to nothing!

I am also slowly catching up on summer camp projects!! I am doing them out of order... but I think it's fun that way! Here is what I am working on tonight.....

All I have to do it sew it and it should be ready to wear! yay!
