Grays and Yellow

Since I was unable to find the perfect shade of navy to make the last craft room pallet come to life, I am switching it up! I'm thinking light gray for the walls, and since I love (LOVE) yellow, it should be easy to include! I am keeping all the thread holders dark wood, and of course it wouldn't be complete with out a little navy. My existing furniture will bring in the black and dark gray, so this craft room transformation should be relatively painless!

I am thinking of adding a crochet area. It might be the perfect way to keep yarn from taking over the whole house (happens every fall). I already have the perfect comfy (dark gray) chair I can take from another room. I also have dreams of making a polka dot wall, but we will see if I can make that dream a reality. What are you thoughts? Do you think gray and yellow is too overdone? Do you think there should be another color added in?

Navy and Bright

I know I just told you in the last post that my least favorite color was blue, but I did say unless it was navy! I love navy. Something about it is just beautiful and classic. I put together this mood board as inspiration for redoing the studio (or craft room... I never know which to call it). Figuring out paint colors has taken me way longer than it should. Even being someone who loves color, I would just stare at the paint chips and be completely uninspired.

It wasn't until I saw this post and thought... oh, dark colors can be clean and bright. The plan is to paint one whole wall navy (I have a chair rail in my room, so top and bottom), and paint the other walls navy on the bottom and white on top. I am going to then add little accents of fluorescents and keep all my thread storage dark wood. I am excited to see it come to life. Now, to keep the chalkboard wall or not? Do you think going dark is a no-no for creative spaces? Tell me what you think!

Crafted: Summer Wreaths

Making seasonal wreaths for my front door is something I really enjoy. They make me happy every time I pull into the driveway.
I loved the way this year's came together so much that I decided to also make a smaller version for our back door. Usually this only happens for Christmas!
Please ignore the fact that our door knocker still has the previous owner's name on it. It is honestly not something I ever remember we need to replace. Then, ignore the one frosted pane of glass on the back door... I am slowly doing them all so that we can remove the burlap curtain and let in more light while still having a little privacy. Hooray for clear contact paper!

What have you been creating for your home this season? Also, who is excited for Prettly Little Liars tonight?

Pinned it: Paper Orb Light DIY

I pinned this DIY from Design*Sponge forever ago. I even bought everything I needed and it just sat. Thank goodness for little monthly goals, or this might have never been done. Here is my finished product... hung and everything!

It was super quick, and the tutorial is easily understood. I did decide on all white liners because I wanted something with clean light for my craft room. The whole thing cost maybe $10.00 and that included the price of the light bulb. I recommend giving the tutorial a try if you're looking for cheap cute lighting!

Around Here

Valentine's Day things are making their way out. Those pillows are the ones I settled on making from this post. I am thinking a quick heart garland for the fireplace is in order, and then it will be set. The mice might be my favorite Valentine's decoration... they're just the sweetest!

Do you decorate for Valentine's Day? Also.... This is my 500th post! Woo!

Around Here

It has been unseasonably warm here (in the 70s) and I have been soaking up every last bit of the nice weather that I can.  Yesterday was a bit of a rainy day so I took the opportunity to start decorating the house for Fall.  I know I am a bit late this year, but to make an excuse... it has been busy.
I made the trio of pumpkins a while back using this tutorial. I made the really big pumpkin yesterday... cause who doesn't want a really big stuffed pumpkin?  I am currently obsessed with making felt leaves, so I made a pillow and garland and am thinking about making a wreath today!

I have been working on the chest/vanity for a while now, and last night we finally were able to move it into the living room.  I am still trying to decide how to decorate it for the season!

What have you been up to?

Corelle Dilemma!

If you have been reading along, you know I have been diligently putting together a service for 12 in Butterfly Gold (golden butterfly??).  Well, I was recently gifted two boxes filled with Woodland Brown.
What to do... what to do... Should I mix them together like this?
Or stage the settings every other?
Or not keep them.. because they don't go together, and you should only collect one dish design from the 1970's? These are obviously important questions you should want to answer! Help!

Over the Weekend

We finally found a better way to arrange the living room...
and hung the wall art I made (using this tutorial)!
The best cookie jar ever came in the mail (I have obtained quiet the collection and will share soon).
We hit the Target clearance section and I found some cute journals and pens...
I fell in love with these two books!

Hope you had a wonderful weekend!

I Heart Spray Paint

This summer we collected a few random, little pieces of furniture that needed some love.

I know the teal plant holder (yes it's teal, not blue) isn' pictured in the before picture... sorry!
After a few coats of spray paint, they're as good as new!

This Weekend

Husband helped me and we covered the seats and finished the chairs!
(Better pics to come when it's not gloomy and raining.  I was just so excited for them to be done that I had to share right away!!)
I love how they turned out, and they fit in the room perfectly!!!  Now to just find some super cute fabric for pillows (these are just place holders)!

We watched
I had to watch it because I love Gilmore Girls, and it was the perfect cheesy romantic comedy!
I really like how the storyline played out.  It was kinda creepy!

I'm a little bummed that it's so rainy today.  I had big plans to take pictures of the stuff I've been crafting lately... Maybe it will be sunnier tomorrow!

Dresser to Buffet!

I have talked about this dresser before that is a lovely hand-me-down from my mom.  When we moved,  I wasn't sure where it should go since we didn't need it as a dresser anymore.  I believe it has finally found it's home!!

I have really wanted a cool, vintage china cabinet for this wall to display all of my lovely special occasion dishes, and though I still haven't found that, at least I can finally put all of them away!  I really love how it fits in!
If you've been a follower for a while then you know that this collection has been a labor of love. The quick back-story is that I adore this pattern, didn't register for china when we got married, and am working on collecting service for 12!

It all fits perfectly in the dresser with room for growth!

Yep, only three drawers used!!!
