Felt Pansies

In an attempt to bring spring inside (without really bringing it inside... allergy queen) on this snowy day, I made some felt pansies.
I fell in love with these little pots at the craft store. Something about mini versions of big things makes me smile! Add some floral foam, felt and wire and then poof! You have a tiny, fake potted plant perfect for your coffee table.
I also placed extra flowers and leaves on the wreath for the front door. Pansies are the perfect spring flower because they can stand up to the freezing temps that always happen during spring in Michigan!

Hello!

We took a long weekend to enjoy the Tulip Festival in Holland, MI... we had a lovely time! I am attempting to get back into the swing of things today, and so I leave you with a lovely picture of tulips I took on the trip.

Happy Spring!

I cannot wait to see things in bloom and have sunshine... to go on park dates, ride bikes, take long walks and see what our little spot looks like in spring.  It is currently snowing here and a bit gloomy... I am over it, hurry up spring!

What are you most excited for this spring?

Paper Hydrangea DIY

Just in time for Mother's Day! My mom has very bad allergies, and though she loves flowers, they're better for her if they're outside.  So... I usually make her some type of paper or felt flower that she can enjoy (I think I started this tradition in 8th grade when I learned how to make origami tulips).  This year, I decided on a vase full of hydrangeas! Here is what you will need to make it happen!

- Multiple paper colors (I went for the purples) and a green paper for leaves
- Paint in a shade that will match your papers
- A flower punch (not needed, but will make this a lot easier)
- Flat head straight pins
- Scissors
- Styrofoam ball
- Floral trap or green washi tape
- Pipe cleaner

1) Paint your styrofoam ball. 2) While it dries, punch your flowers. 3) Cut your ball in half using scissors. 4) Add your flowers to the ball using pins.  Make sure to stagger them and curl up the edges. 5) Cut a circle for the bottom of your flower and cut two leaf shapes. 6) Pin them into place (I know only one pin is showing, but use more so nothing comes loose. 7) (Not pictured, sorry) Wrap the pipe cleaner with the green tape, then poke it through the bottom of the flower and you will have this!

Happy Crafting!

Spring Blossom Wreath DIY

Since the weather has been so lovely, I thought I would start decorating for Spring even though it's a bit early! This wreath is super simple. The hardest part is cutting out the flowers, and even that isn't so bad!

You will need:
-A yarn-wrapped styrofoam wreath (or a painted one)
-Scissors
-Pen
-Straight pins or glue
-Felt
-Printed template (or feel free to draw your own flowers)

1. Trace and cut out flowers
2. Stack flowers and place a pin through the center
You can stack as many or as few as you want.  If you would rather glue them, that's fine too (you could even use buttons or beads for the centers)

3. Push pin and flower into the wreath, trying not to leave too many gaps.
5.Once the wreath is filled to your liking, just hang and you're done!

If you have any questions, please let me know... and if you make one, I would love to see it!

Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Weekend Update

This weekend was lots and lots of fun!
I got a potted tomato plant from my mommy to try out my green thumb!
Planted some pretty flowers :)

While on our way to a local art fair, we spotted the long lost chain of our favorite pizza place.

So of course we had an impromptu pizza date in the car!

We celebrated national ice cream day on Sunday.

Listened to husbands playlist and had a dance party :)

Went raspberry picking in my MIL's backyard.
How was your weekend?

This Weekend

We stumbled upon a few garage sales and found a new Goodwill where we found these lovelies!

This amazing vintage record holder :)

A beautiful piece of teal pyrex (sorry for the glair, is it okay that I was too lazy to move it?)

An amazing vintage sheet and pillowcase.  I think I may have enough vintage sheets to start my quilt!

We also spent a lot of time outside and I found some more flowers in bloom. (well lots... get ready for the photo dump!)

I hope you had wonderful and relaxing weekend!!

Poppies

I spent some much needed time in the garden this weekend, and I noticed that I missed my poppy bloom while we were on vacation :(. Yes, I only have one.... but they are my favorite!   Here is how it looked by the time I got to see it...

Still a beautiful color :)

The Weather is Dreamy...

It has been sunny and warm here in MI.  I haven't wanted to stay inside for last few days, so I have been wandering around my yard, playing in the flower beds.  Here is what is in bloom...
This little flower is some  kind of Ivy.. it wraps around the back of my house.  It fills the area nicely.

I planted ranunculus in red and yellow... These flowers are so pretty when they open fully!

I planted pansies along the front walk way, and in the pot that sits on our front porch.

Got to love tulips! I only have a few yellows... and lots and lots of red :)

Weekend Update!

This weekend I stayed pretty busy in the crafty room!

Do you remember this dress from forever ago?

Well I spent a little time and this weekend restyled it into something wearable :)

I love the little bird pattern!

I also made a few things for an upcoming shop update... Here is a little peek!
I love these bouquets of flowers.  I couldn't decide what they should be made into, so I am going to list them as a "you choose".  They could be put on a headband, a hairpin, a barrette... even made into a broach!
