Be Fearless

found here
Anyone else find it really hard to allow yourself to do nothing? I find it nearly impossible. I know I can't do nothing today, but I am definitely going to try to do nothing soon!

Happy Weekend!

Be Fearless

I needed this reminder today, so I thought I would share it with you! Sorry for my silence, life has happened and I have no time to create. I will return very soon! On a positive note, not being able to create has left me with a list of ideas... get ready!

Being Fearless in 2013

This quote from Divergent struck me when I read it because it is just TRUE!! My main resolution for 2013 was to be fearless in all I do. This one action helped my creativity, self-esteem and overall happiness. It was such a good resolution, I am not even sure how to make a new one for 2014.

Being fearless helped my creativity beyond measure. I was always an over-thinker and I would plan things out until there was no possibility of failure. This often meant that I never actually went through with things. I solved this by only letting myself plan out the steps and supplies needed and from there I just ran with it. This helped me learn how to set zippers, try new beading styles, make new things for the shop and use a lot of supplies I had been saving (for fear of ruining/wasting them).

Being fearless did great things for my self-esteem. For the first time I just let myself be. I failed at this sometimes, but for the most part I think I did well. Reading Daring Greatly helped with this a lot. I didn't fear what I said or would say in conversation. I didn't fear what people would think of me, what I was wearing or putting my opinion/feelings out there (it is ok to not like things or agree with everyone). I didn't fear the silence in conversations (I'm a big introvert). I just let myself be and I grew through that simple action immensely.

Being fearless led to better overall happiness. Obviously making all the changes talked about above really improved my everyday, but I also had to let myself say no to things. I know that sometimes you have to do things for other people, but not all the time and not at the expense of your happiness! Taking the fear out of saying no was HUGE for me. I still cringe a little when I say it, but it is nothing like it was before.

How was your 2013? Did you have your own fearless moments?

Be Fearless

Sometimes music says it best! I say this quote to myself whenever I need a bit of courage. I am going into my 9th month of attempting to live more fearlessly. It has truly been an eye opening experience and beyond worth it. I have grown more comfortable with who I am and have done things I never thought I would. I am thinking this little journey will continue through 2014... I feel like I am finally finding my stride.

You are smart / good / pretty / woman / worthy / strong / successful / _______ enough! Don't let fear make you think otherwise.

Be Fearless

Just a little Monday reminder!
This line is from one of my favorite Regina Spektor songs. I hate that people can easily fluster me and make me doubt myself. I have been working really hard on just taking people as they are and not caring how they feel about who I really am. If people don't care for me, it is their problem in the end... not mine.

Be Fearless

*
I am still fighting to be more fearless in everyday life. So far, I am really happy with how it is going and how it is making me feel.  I am becoming more comfortable with who I am and caring about others people's opinions less and less.

Have you been tackling any fears lately?

Be Fearless...

Has there ever been a more true statement? Seriously, you cannot please everyone... I make myself crazy in the attempt and I am trying really hard to stop.  I am constantly reminding myself that I am who I am and I do what I do, and if people around me have a problem with that OH WELL. This life that I am living is MY life, not theirs, and if they have nothing better to do then criticize me, then I guess I just feel sorry for them.

Side note: The picture above is one of the first pictures I took with my 50mm lens. It is no where close to perfect and neither is the text I added, but I did it myself.  I almost posted this image that someone else made instead. Then, I realized that is the opposite of being fearless... see, still very much a work in progress!

Be Fearless...

Found here from here
You know my theme for this year is to do things fearlessly, but this is still a tough one for my anxiety to handle.

My Resolution

Hope the first few days of the new year have treated you well.  I got to ring in the new year from the comforts of my bed due to a lovely cold... but it was perfect.  I am just now beginning to feel human, and I am so excited to get started in this new time.  I decided that in 2013 I am going to take the fear out of failure.  I am just going to do, without over thinking every little thing.  Here are just a few of the things I am going to apply this to.

1. List some vintage clothing I have been hoarding in the shop.
2. Make a dress from a pattern.
3. Be confident in what I do/make.
4. Hem, take in, and(or) restyle every thrift I have in the almost basket.

These things are so simple and yet I over think and fear every little thing about them. Who cares if I don't sell a thing, or adding to my existing shop is the wrong outlet? What does it matter if I ruin a pattern or waste some fabric? I can buy some more and it won't be a waste... I am sure it will be a learning experience. And who cares what people think about what I do/make? I am done with the worry. It is not my problem, it is theirs.  I never pay much for my thrift finds, so I need to just let go of the anxiety and do my best. If I ruin something, it honestly just doesn't matter!
