Felt Poinsettia Wreath DIY

This was my fist attempt at making a wreath with such large flowers. I am really happy with how it turned out and I love the 3D effect.

To make one you will need:
Foam wreath (wrapped in yarn)
Felt
Glue gun
Scissors
Straight pins (the longer, the better)
Thick paper (to make leaf template)

To make the Center:
1. Cut a 1x12" piece of brown felt.
2. Fold it in half and glue the edge.
3. Make little cuts all the way down. Just don't cut all the way through.
4. Roll it up and glue in place.

Flower:
1. Trace and cut out petals.
2. Glue them around the base until they are as full as you like.
3. Trace and cut some leaves out of green felt.

Assembling the wreath:
Use the straight pins to secure the flowers and leaves in place. I don't glue them in place because I really dislike wrapping wreaths in yarn and I like the ability to re-use the base. Feel free to glue them in place if you like!

Crafted: Summer Wreaths

Making seasonal wreaths for my front door is something I really enjoy. They make me happy every time I pull into the driveway.

I loved the way this year's came together so much that I decided to also make a smaller version for our back door. Usually this only happens for Christmas!

Please ignore the fact that our door knocker still has the previous owner's name on it. It is honestly not something I ever remember we need to replace. Then, ignore the one frosted pane of glass on the back door... I am slowly doing them all so that we can remove the burlap curtain and let in more light while still having a little privacy. Hooray for clear contact paper!

Fall Leaf Template and DIY Inspiration

I know a lot of people are already pulling out their Christmas decorations, but not me! I like my house to have the look and feel of Fall through Thanksgiving. So, just in case I am not the only one... I thought I would share this leaf template with you and show you what I have done with it!

You can cut the leaves out of felt and use it to decorate a wreath, a pillow, or to make a garland!

I also cut some leaves out of woodgrain contact paper for window clings.

Spring Blossom Wreath DIY

Since the weather has been so lovely, I thought I would start decorating for Spring even though it's a bit early! This wreath is super simple. The hardest part is cutting out the flowers, and even that isn't so bad!

You will need:

-A yarn-wrapped styrofoam wreath (or a painted one)
-Scissors
-Pen
-Straight pins or glue
-Felt
-Printed template (or feel free to draw your own flowers)

1. Trace and cut out flowers

2. Stack flowers and place a pin through the center

You can stack as many or as few as you want.  If you would rather glue them, that's fine too (you could even use buttons or beads for the centers)

3. Push pin and flower into the wreath, trying not to leave too many gaps.  

5.Once the wreath is filled to your liking, just hang and you're done!
