Quick Floral Sandal DIY

I came across these sandals while poking through Glamour magazine.
I thought they were super cute... and about how simply I could totally do that for way cheaper! (the sandals pictured cost between $70 and $700).  So to try out my theory, I went to Forever21 and bought a pair of pretty cute sandals for $7.00, and this is what I came up with.

They were super simple... the hardest part was creating the flower, and even that's not hard :).  Here is how I created these flowers.

You will need:
1. A pair of sandals you don't mind altering
2. Scrap fabric of your choice
3. Needle and thread to match fabric
4. Scissors
5. E-6000 glue or another strong glue.
6. Something to trace three different size circles with. (1, 2, & 2.5 inch)

First, you want to cut out all your circles for the flowers.  I used two flowers on each sandal... You can use as many as you want. You need four 2.5" circles, four 2" circles and one 1" circle for each flower.

Next, you will create the flower.  I used paper to show you how to fold the fabric... it was easier to photograph :)
Fold it in half each way to make an X.

Then pinch in the sides to make a little cone.

Sew the 2.5" circle to the 1" circle, making an X with the thread.

Continue doing this until you have four petals. Repeat these steps with the 2" circles, placing them on top of these petals (I put mine in the gaps to make it look more full).

Once all of your flowers are made, you are ready to glue them to the sandle!!
Figure out your placement and then glue.. simple :)

Since E-6000 glue doesn't tack very quickly, I used some clips to secure them until they were dry. (Caution: be sure that no glue oozes over the flower and onto the clip. The glue is strong and it may not come off).

I hope that was clear... sorry it was so long for something so simple.  If I wasn't clear enough, please don't hesitate to ask :)!!! I hope you enjoy your new, pretty sandals!!!!
